Centre ground parties win in locals

Most newspapers are reporting that there has been a drift to the centre in the local elections held in Colombia yesterday, with both far-right and far-left candidates losing across the country.

A former mayor and Green party centre-right candidate, Enrique Peñalosa, won in Bogota and in Medellin Federico Gutiérrez of the president’s party won the mayorship. In Barranquilla former mayor (2008 – 2011) Alejandro Char of the centre-right Radical Change Party won once more.
