Published

Nepal’s Election Commission is doing a double verification of all proportional representation tallies after completing the count for the Constituent Assembly election which took place on 19th November.

If verified then 9,377,519 people will have voted in the election, about a 77% turnout. The likely number of seats for the top four parties are as follows (with constituency tallies being given first and likely proportional seats second):

Nepali Congress (NC) – 105 + 91 = 196
Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) (CPN–UML) – 91 + 84 = 175
Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (UCP-M) – 26 + 54 = 80
Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) – 3 + 23 = 26.

A further 27 parties received one or more seats out of 127 parties that stood in the election.
