Dalia Grybauskaitė re-elected President for second term

Lithuania’s President Dalia Grybauskaitė has been elected for a second term. The Central Elections Commission has reported that the President took 57.87% of the vote with turnout at 47.3%.

Grybauskaitė won in 52 electoral constituencies whilst her opponent Zigmantas Balčytis of the Social Democratic Party of Lithuania (LSDP) took 40.14% of the vote and won in eight municipalities.

In the first round on 11th May Grybauskaitė took 46.02% of the vote, just short of victory and Balčytis took 14.18%.

Lithuania also voted in European Parliament elections yesterday with results awaited.
