Election dates announced

Al Arabiya news is reporting that that the Head of Egypt’s Election Commission, Abdel Moez Ibrahim has announced the dates for the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

Ibrahim is quoted as saying that elections for the 504 seats in the People’s Assembly will be held in three stages, starting on 21st November and completing on 3rd January 2012. Elections for the Shura Council (the upper house) will then be held from 22nd January 2012 to 4th March.

No date has been given for the presidential election.
