Election on 14th October

President Filip Vujanovic has announced that the general election will be held on 14th October, about six months earlier than planned.

The Coalition for a European Montenegro which is a four party coalition led by the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) emerged as the largest party with 47 of 81 seats in the 2009 election for the Skupština Crne Gore or Parliament. The Socialist People’s Party of Montenegro (SNP) took 16 seats and formed a coalition with the DPS. There are no real main opposition parties and the coalition is expected to win the election comfortably.
