Published

Guinea’s electoral commission has announced that there will be legislative elections on 29th December this year.

The last elections were held in 2002, but following a coup in 2008 the country has been run by a junta led National Transitional Council.

A presidential election was held last year when Alpha Condé of the Rally of the Guinean People (RPG) was elected with 52.52% of the vote in a second round runoff against Cellou Dalein Dial of the Union of Democratic Forces of Guinea (UFDG). Condé was sworn in on 21st December 2010.
