Election set for 24th September

The United Arab Emirates plans to have its second Federal National Council Election on 24th September 2011. The first ever elections were held in 2006 with an electorate of 6,600, about 1% of the population.

The new elections will widen the franchise to around 20,000 voters who will vote for half of the 40 members council.
