Elections to replace opposition in September

Bahrain will hold elections on 24th September to fill the 18 seats vacated by the opposition at the start of the protests.

Al Wefaq, the opposition party resigned all of its 18 seats in protest at the start of the government crackdown on protests in March. These seats will now be filled in the special election with Bahrainis living abroad able to vote in embassies and consulates on 20th September.
