Switzerland

Final vote today

Published

Swiss voters will complete their voting in the general election today. Postal votes had been issued several weeks ago and most votes have been coming in since last Sunday. As a result polling stations will remain open until mid-day today with the first results coming in at around 1 p.m.

Early results suggest a turnout of around 50%.

The Swiss People’s Party (SVP), which has been campaigning on restricting immigration further, is expected to increase its support to around 30%. However the campaign has been low key and very little change is expected.
