Further delay on polls results

Published

The Provisional Electoral Council has announced that it needs a few more days before it is able to give the final results for the Chamber of Deputies and Senate seat results from the second round voting which took place on the same day as the presidential election.

Results are expected on the 19th or 20th April 2011.

The result of the presidential election, however, is now resolved. Michel Martelly was elected president with 68% of the vote and his opponent, Mirlande Manigat, has said that she will not contest the result.
