General election called for 22 January 2013

Israel’s Cabinet has agreed to hold a general election on 22nd January 2013. The election has been brought forward from late 2013 because the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that his government was unlikely to be able to get a budget passed. The prime minister’s party, Likud, is expected to win the election.
