General Election confirmed for 22nd January

Published

An opposition challenge to the dissolution of parliament by President Baldwin Lonsdale has been dismissed by the Vanuatu Supreme Court.

The move means that a snap general election will be held on 22nd January 2016.

Parliament was dissolved by the president after members were unable to form a new government following the conviction of fourteen government members of parliament for bribery in October.
