General Election on 25th October

Tanzania’s National Electoral Commission (NEC) has announced that elections for a new President, Parliament and Local Councils will take place on 25th October this year.

The official announcement as published on the NEC website is as follows:

“The National Electoral Commission has announced the 2015 General Election timetable.

The National Electoral Commission has announced the 2015 General Election timetable for Presidential, Parliamentary and Councillors’ Elections.

The timetable indicates the Nomination of Presidential, Parliamentary and Councilors Candidates will be held on 21st August 2015

Whereas the Campaign period will commence on 22nd August 2015 ending on 24th October 2015

The Election Day for Presidential, Parliamentary and Councillors will be on 25th October 2015

Furthermore, the NEC, Chairman Hon Justice of High court (Rtd) Damian Lubuva urges the Electoral stakeholders including political parties and Citizens at large to observe the timetable released and adhere to it accordingly.”
