General election second round today

Up to 17 million Iranian voters in 69 seats across 21 provinces go to the polls for a second time today to complete the election of the 290 seat parliament or Islamic Consultative Assembly.

There are 136 candidates running for the 69 seats in which no candidate received more than the required minimum of 25% of the vote in the first round.

In the first round on 26th February so called moderates won every seat in the capital, Tehran, and overall took 83 seats to the more hard-line Principlists Coalition who won 64 seats.
