Guelleh wins third term

Incumbent president Ismail Omar Guelleh has won a third term in office after elections on Friday (8th April 2011).

Provisional results from 352 of 387 polling stations give Ismail Guelleh 79.26% of the vote with his only rival Mohamed Warsama on 20.74%.  Turnout of the 152,000 registered voters was said to be 68.51%.

The constitution was amended last year to allow President Guelleh to stand for a third term.
