Published

Maori Party dissenter Hone Harawira has won the Te Tai Tokerau by election.

Harawira took 5,611 votes with the Labour Candidate coming second on 4,744 and the Maori Party a distant third on 1,026 votes.

Prime Minister John Key described the by-election as a ‘waste of time’ with a general election less than five months away.
