Heavy poll in state elections


All three states polling yesterday (Wednesday 13th April 2011) were reported as having heavy polling with some booths having taken 50% before noon.

In Kerala around 75% of the 23 million voters turned out. Polling booths had to stay open to accommodate all voters and the turnout could rise to 80% according to the electoral commission.

In Tamil Nadu one of the highest turnouts ever was recorded at around 75% – 80% and in Pondicherry they recorded an 85% turnout.
