Jonathan’s candidate wins Bayelsa

Published

Henry Dickson of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has won the Bayelsa state governorship with more than 90% of the vote.

Bayelsa was one of the states who’s election was held back from last year’s general election. It is one of three states in the oil rich Niger delta in southern Nigeria. The result will be a bosst for President Goodluck Jonathan after a difficult period this year.

Opposition parties rejected the result saying that the poll was heavily rigged.
