Josefina Mota chosen by PAN

Josefina Vázquez Mota has been selected by the governing party, the National Action Party (PAN), to be their presidential candidate in the presidential election to take place on 1st July this year. She will be facing Enrique Peña Nieto of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and Andrés Manuel López Obrador of the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD).

An economist and journalist, Mota (51) was appointed Secretary of Social Development between 2000 – 2006, and Secretary of Public Education from 2006 – 2009. From 2010 – 2011 she was President of the political Coordination Board of the Chamber of Deputies.
