Karimov elected President

Incumbent President Islam Karimov has won Sunday’s Presidential election.

Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) M. Abdusalomov announced that incumbent Karimov, who has been in power since 1990, took 90.39% of the vote.

Preliminary results are as follows:

Islam Karimov; 17,122,597, 90.39%

Akmal Saidov; 582, 688, 3.08%

Hotamjon Ketmanov; 552,309, 2.92%

Nariman Umarov; 389,024, 2.05%
