King appoints new PM

Published

Morocco’s King Mohammed VI has asked former foreign minister Saad Eddine El Othmani from the Justice and Development Party (PJD) to try and form a government. The move comes after the king dismissed Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane last week.

Benkirane had failed to form a coalition government after last October’s general election and it is unclear how appointing a different negotiator from the same party is going to make a difference.
