Kvirikashvili names new Cabinet

Following the general election held on 8th October Acting Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili has announced his new Cabinet with five posts changing hands and 13 remaining with the same holders. The names have to be approved by parliament, probably on 26th November. Kvirikashvili’s party, Georgian Dream won an additional 67 seats to give them 115 seats in the 150 seat parliament securing for them a second term in office.

The five new ministers are:

Dimitri Kumsishvili Minister of Finance and First Deputy Prime Minister
Kakha Kaladze Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Energy
Giorgi Gakharia Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development
Zurab Alavidze Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure
Victor Dolidze State Minister on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration

The ministers who have retained their posts are:

Mikheil Janelidze Minister of Foreign Affairs
Levan Izoria Minister of Defence
Giorgi Mghebrishvili Minister of Internal Affairs
David Sergeenko Minister for Labour, Health and Social Affairs
Thea Tsulukiani Minister of Justice
Aleksandre Jejelava Minister of Education and Science
Levan Davitashvili Minister of Agriculture
Kakha Kakhishvili Minister of Corrections
Sozar Subari Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories,
Accommodation and Refugees
Gigla Agulashvili Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection
Mikheil Giorgadze Minister of Culture and Monument Protection
Tariel Khechikashvili Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs
Ketevan Tsikhelashvili State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality
