With some seats being contested, at least one re-run and 117 ballot boxes missing, the latest results of Saturday’s (9th April 2011) general election would appear to show the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) pulling slightly ahead.

In the 360 seat House of Representatives the PDP have won 147 seats (previously 263 in total) with the opposition taking 125 seats (previously 97 in total). There are still 88 seats to declare. The election for 48 of these will be held on 26th April.

For the opposition the results are: ACN 46; CPC 35; Labour 18; PPN 2; ANPP 20; Accord 4.

In the 105 seat Senate the PDP have taken 53 seats so far (previously 87 seats) and the opposition have taken 30 seats. There are still 22 seats to declare. The election for 15 of these will also be held on 26th April.

For the opposition the results are: ACN 14; CPC 6; Labour 3; APGA 1; ANPP 6.
