Lepap win all seats

Published

The Popular Party (Lepap) has won all 34 seats in the National Assembly. They won the 25 constituency seats as well as all nine of the proportional seats. The Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) fell short of winning a proportional seat, taking 9.6% of the vote.

The election was, however, a low turnout by Seychelles standards. Around 74.3% of the vote, the lowest on record, which may be partly down to the election boycott of the main opposition party, the Seychelles National Party (SNP). There were also a large number of spoilt ballot papers reported.
