Local elections poll

Published

A YouGov poll published in The Sun newspaper suggests that the opposition Labour Party are on 38% (+16%), the ruling Conservatives are on 34% (-4%) and their coalition partners the Liberal Democrats are on 13% (-11%).

These figures are for those parts of the country where there are local elections and are not national figures. There are no local elections in London and a number of unitary authorities across the country. Nevertheless the figures suggest that the Conservative vote is slowly sliding away, but the big losers are likely to be the their smaller coalition partners the Liberal Democrats.

Local elections polling day is 5th Mayn 2011. There will also be a referendum on the same day to decide if a new ‘Alternative Voting’ system should be introduced.
