Jamaica will hold local elections today, three months after the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) decisively lost the general election.

A total of 1,648,036 voters will vote at 6,630 polling stations between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. in 228 divisions across 63 constituencies. Out of a total of 478 candidates, the JLP are putting up a full slate of 228 candidates and the ruling People’s National Party (PNP) are standing 227 candidates.

In the last elections in 2008 the JLP won 113 of 227 divisions and the PNP won 94.
