Published

The Haitian Provisional Electoral Council (PEC) has announced that the second round runoff in the Presidential election will be between Mirlande Manigat and Michel ‘Sweet Mickey’ Martelly.

Following the disputed first round on 28th November 2010, the PEC eventually placed Mirlande Manigat on 31.37%, Jude Celestin (from President Preval’s party) on 22.48% and Michel Martelly on 21.84%.  This led to the commissioning of a report by the Organisation of American States (OAS) which recommended that the runoff should be between Manigat and Martelly.
