Most seats in general election go to second round runoff

Following Bahrain’s general election on Saturday, just six of the 40 seats in the National Assembly have been elected. The other 34 seats will be subject to a second round runoff this coming Saturday.

According to official figures, just 53.7% of the electorate bothered to vote in the elections which had been boycotted by the main Shia Muslim parties including Al-Wefaq.
