Nursultan Nazarbayev wins again

As expected incumbent President Nursultan Nazarbayev has won yesterday’s Presidential election.

The Kazakh Central Elections Commission (CEC) reported at 10 a.m. local time this morning that turnout for the election was 95.22%. Preliminary results for the election give the following percentages for the three candidates standing in the election:

1. Nursultan Nazarbayev; Nur Otan – 97.7%

2. Turgun Syzdykov; Communist Party of Kazakhstan (CPK) – 1.6%

3. Abelgazy Kusainov; Independent – 0.7%

Nursultan Nazarbayev has been the country’s President since its independence in 1991.
