Opposition holds by elections

Published

The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has won two by-elections increasing their majorities in both cases. The seats were vacated by DPP MPs taking up Mayoral and Deputy Mayoral positions.

Although both by elections were in DPP party strongholds, the increased majorities would suggest that the party is starting to recover from poor results in the legislative elections in 2008.
