Opposition withdraw from debate

Published

Three of the leading opposition candidates in the 9th April presidential election have withdrawn from a televised debate after concerns that it would not be conducted fairly.

Previously President Goodluck Jonathan had cancelled his attendance at another TV debate on 18th March because he was unable to adjust his programme.

The three candidates, Muhammadu Bihari of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Ibrahim Shekaru of the All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) and Nuhu Ribadu of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) will not attend the debate on 29th March being run by the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria.
