Parliament to be dissolved on 11th April

Prime Minister Perry Christie of the Bahamas has announced that parliament will be dissolved on 11th April. No date for the general election has been announced but it is expected to take place in early May. Potential voters have until next Monday 10th April to register to vote.

The last general election was held on 7th May 2012 when the centre-left Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) won 29 of the 38 seats in the Bahamian House of Assembly.
