Party leader is new presidential candidate

Guyana’s ruling People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has chosen party leader and former general secretary Donald Ramotar to be their presidential candidate in the forthcoming 2011 poll.

The PP have ruled Guyana since 1992 and the current president, President Bharrat Jagdeo is barred from standing for a third term.
