PLP win landslide election

Published

The Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) of Perry Christie has defied all of the pundits and won a massive victory in yesterday’s general election.

Although final results have yet to be verified, Perry Christie’s PLP took 29 of the 38 seats in the House of Assembly.

The party of Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham, the Free National Movement (FNM), appear to have picked up all of the remaining nine seats, a drop of twelve seats, although the parliament was a little larger at 41 seats in 2007.

Hubert Ingraham immediately announced that he would be stepping down as party leader and would be resigning his seat with a by-election likely in June.
