Published

Prime Minister Najib Razak has seen his popularity rating tumble in the last month, especially amongst the Chinese community in the country.

Although support remains high for the prime minister, his support has dropped from 69% to 65% since March. He has seen a spectacular drop in support amongst the minority Chinese with a fall of 19% to 37% support, Middle income families have also lost confidence, falling 18% to 50% support for the PM according to a Merdeka Center poll published in a number of newspapers.

Support for the Prime Minister is, however, still very high amongst the majority Malay. Here he saw his rating increase by 5% points to 79%.

A general election must be held by April 2013.
