PNP win locals


The governing People’s National Party (PNP) has won Jamaica’s local elections reversing the results of 2008. The PNP took 149 of 228 divisions across the nation, a net increase of 55 seats. The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) won 77 seats, down 36 seats from 113 seats in 2008. Two independents won the remaining divisions.

Turnout was low at 34.5%, down from the 53% turnout in the November 2011 general election.
