Published

Macedonia has called a Presidential election for 13th April 2014 with a second round runoff on 27th April if required.

The announcement came after the governing and opposition parties reached an agreement on new election rules which will tighten up the chances of using public office for electoral gain. The rules also limit financial contributions as require regular checks on electoral lists.

Incumbent President Gjorgje Ivanov of the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization – Democratic Party for Macedonian National Unity (VMRO-DPMNE) is eligible for re-election.
