Presidential election to take place on 26th and 27th May

Egypt’s Election Commission has finally announced dates for the Presidential election.

The election will take place on 26th and 27th May with a second round in the middle of June if needed. The Election Commission has also reported that it expects to confirm results for the election by 5th June.

Two candidates have announced their intention to run so far; Hamdeen Sabahi of the Egyptian Popular Current, a left-wing party he founded on 21st September 2012 and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi the former Army General, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Secretary.
