Voters go to the polls today in presidential elections which have been delayed twice in recent weeks due to problems with voter registration.

Incumbent President Boni Yayi who came to power in 2006 is facing tow main challengers, Adrien Houngbedji and Abdoulaye Bio Tchane.  If no candidate receives 50% or more of the vote in the first round then there will be  a second round on 20th March.  Legislative elections are scheduled for 17th April 2011.

Polling stations are open from 0700 to 1600 local time.
