Presidential polls take place today

The 69,480 registered voters in the Seychelles will be voting from today until Saturday (21st May) to elect their next president.

There are four candidates standing including incumbent James Michel of Parti Lepap (People’s Party) who has been in power since 2004 and won the 2006 poll with 53.73% of the vote on an 88.7% turnout.

His runner up in the 2006 poll, Wavel Ramkalawan of the Seychelles National Party (SNP) is also standing. Two other candidates, Ralph Volcère of the New Democratic Party (NDP) and Independent, Philippe Boullé, complete the line up.
