Presidential second round runoff on 29th April

President of Guinea Bissau’s Electoral Commission, Desejado Lima da Costa, has announced that the second round runoff for the presidential election will take place on Sunday 29th April.

The runoff will be between former prime minister Carlos Gomes Júnior who took 49% of the vote in the first round and former president Kumba Yala who took 23% of the vote.

Yala has disputed the first round figures and has suggested that he might boycott the second round.
