Railway Minister disqualified

Published

Minister of Railways Saad Rafique has been disqualified from his Lahore NA-125 constituency by an election tribunal. The decision means that a fresh election will be held within 60 days in his seat.

The decision came after the court ruled on irregularities during the 2013 poll when ballot bags were cut open and tampered with.

Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has been campaigning ever since the 2013 poll saying that the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was illegal due to widespread tampering.
