Results announced in Vanuatu

The Electoral Commission has announced the official results from last week’s General election. Vanua’aku Pati won 8 seats and, with 6 seats, the People’s Progressive Party of Prime Minister Sato Kilman was the next largest. The Union of Moderate Parties won 5 seats, while the Ground and Justice Party and the National United Party each won 4 seats. Full results can be found under Elections on the Vanuatu page.

As neither won a majority, both the main parties are hoping for enough support to form a coalition government; a total of 16 parties and 4 independents won seats at the election. Turnout was around 63%.
