Ruling party expected to win on Sunday


Estonian voters will go to the polls on Sunday (6th March 2011) and are expected to return the Estonian Reform Party of Prime Minister Andrus Ansip to government.

An opinion poll by TNS Emsor puts the Estonian Reform Party on 29% and their coalition partners the Union of Pro Patria and Res Publica (IRL) on 25%.

The opposition Estonian Centre Party is on 23% and the Social Democratic Party on 14%.

Estonia is the only country to allow internet voting for all citizens. To date the Electoral Commission is reported as having received 140,846 internet votes for this Sunday’s election, or about 15% of the population. Internet voting opened on 24th February and closed on 2nd March 2011.
