Second round poll today

The second round for the remaining 65 seats in the 290 seat Islamic Consultative Assembly are being held today.

A total of 130 candidates are standing for the 65 seats with the 14,323 polling stations opening from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time. In the first round on 2nd March, Conservatives supporting the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei won the majority of the seats, whilst supporters of the President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, did badly.
