Second round runoff today


Sauli Niinistoe of the National Coalition Party (KOK) and Pekka Haavisto of the Green League (VL) are the remaining two candidates in the second round runoff taking place in Finland today.

Niinistoe took 37% of the vote in the first round with opinion polls suggesting that he will take around 62% today. Haavisto took 18.8% on the first round and is expected to get 38% today.

Around 4.4 million electors are eligible to vote between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. local time. About 36.5% of those voters have already cast their vote in advance voting, with the remaining voters having to face temperatures of minus 25 degrees Celsius.
