Three candidates call for boycott of presidential election

Published

Three of the five candidates standing against President Idriss D├ęby have said that they will boycott the presidential election called for 24th April 2011.

They have asked their supporters and the people of Chad to boycott the election because of irregularities with registration and polling procedures in the 13th February 2011 general election which have not been resolved.

The three candidates concerned are Saleh Kebzabo, Kamougue Abdelkader and Yorongar Ngarlejy. The poll has been delayed once from 3rd April to 24th April to give the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) time to allow it to organise the poll better.
