Voting extended in general election

Published

Papua New Guinea’s governor-general, Sir Michael Ogio, has signed documents extending the general election in seven provinces by up to a further two weeks.

Difficulties with logistics and the weather have caused the delay in many of the remotest parts of the country which is spread across a number of remote islands and highland areas.

Voting started on 23rd June and was due to have been completed yesterday, 6th July.
