VP elected once more

Incumbent Vice president Hamid Ansari of the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) won the vice presidential contest comfortably yesterday.

Ansari took 490 of the possible 788 votes with his rival Jaswant Singh of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) taking 238 votes. There were 51 no votes and eight votes were recorded as invalid.
