Published

Incumbent President Laurent Gbagbo expelled the British and Canadian ambassadors after both countries had terminated the functions of his representatives. Both countries have ignored the expulsion saying that it does not come from a legitimate authority.

Meanwhile President elect Alassane Ouattara has urged ECOWAS to send in special forces to remove Gbagbo. He has promised Laurent Gbabgbo safety if he stands down without further problems. At the same time Mr Ouattara has warned public servants not to cooperate with the Gbagbo government.
